PERSONAL THOUGHTS

Motto:

Whenever you have a problem, don't say, "Hey God, I've got a big problem." But instead, "Hey problem, I've got a big God."

Describe yourself:

I believe that if anything is worth doing, it's worth doing well. I'm patient yet persistent. I'm also hard working scholar and many would say I'm reliable. For me, family is very important because with them, I feel secured and comfortable. I'm steadfast, warm, and affectionate. Yet there are also traits that I need to work on. Like, I have this occasional outburst of uncontrollable rages that sometimes lead to irritation. Haha! Everybody has his own negative side anyway. But most especially I'm determined to do well in whatever I ought to do.

What does it mean to be a UNO-Rian?

Being a UNO-Rian doesn't only mean of having the capacity to excel in academics or being globally competitive individual in the future. But as part of our formation through the inspiration of St. Augustine, we are all expected to have the heart to help the needy, be an inspiration to the youth in pursuing their dreams, and live life in Christianity as what our Creator and Savior had taught us.

What is your greatest achievement?

I never stop reaching my dreams in life. And so far, through the help of UNO- R, I'm now a step closer to what I'd like to become. Being a teacher is the most challenging profession and through this institution I was able to realize that teaching is my passion. Right now, my greatest achievement is being a scholar and student of this school that I know will make me a productive individual someday.

If there is one event in your life that you want to change, what would it be? Why?

I believe that there is no going back to the past or change what had happened before. Indeed, I'm glad in whatever mistakes I had committed or the experiences I went through because if those didn't happen in my life, I don't think that I will be what I am right now. So, if they'll say that "Experiences are the best teacher" I won't agree. Because as what Mr. Remus Magbanua had taught us, and I agree to him that “Experiences are not the best teacher but REFLECTION is."

Despite the natural calamities happening in our country, how can you say that it's still more fun in the Philippines?

If you'll look into the Filipinos’ eyes damaged by all the calamities and situations that test his life, you'll see hope. Hope that there will always be better tomorrow, hope that someone out there will reach out their hands to help, hope that this will all pass and soon they'll recover. This what makes us unique. The hope in our eyes that gives curves in our lips reflects happiness that radiates in our surrounding. Indeed, it is more fun in the Philippines.

How does it feel representing your college to the prestigious Mister and Miss UNO-R 2013 Pageant?

It is very overwhelming though even before I joined this competition there were a lot of criticism, objections, and comments I've heard but I consider those as challenges that soon I'll overcome and prove that I can with the help of the college of Education student council, our advisers, faculty, co- mentors, the Dean, family, and friend. And with the grace of God I know that I could stand proudly on that stage presenting my college.

What are your preparations for this pageant?

I really advice myself to be healthy and get thinner. Haha! And so far, I'm losing weight. I also condition myself to spontaneously answer questions that might be asked of me and of course, I pray to God for his guidance and grace to the upcoming pageant.

Among the candidates, who do you think is your best competitor?

I can't really point out who is the best competitor because I really consider them all deserving to the title with their wit and beauty. But as for me, I'll do my best and have fun to this once in a lifetime opportunity and it is now up to the judges on who do they think really deserves the title when the pageant comes.

What or who motivated to win this pageant?

I give my best, time, and effort in this pageant because my family, friends and the student council of Education believes in my capacity and ability that I could win this competition. They are my inspiration and their words of encouragement are my source to be better and keep going.

What do you think is the relevance/importance of Mister and Miss UNO-R to the academic community?

Candidates are mirroring the knowledge and wisdom our colleges had taught us. Through our wit and confidence in delivering our message to the people, we can promote not just our colleges but the whole university so that many students will enroll and be part to the Recollect community which does not only make you productive individual but also teach you to have the heart and life that is centered to God.

If you win the crown, what would be your personal advocacy?
If given the chance to win the title, I would remind or inform the youth that whatever negative issues, criticism, and objections they'll hear, take them positively. Think of them as challenges. for them to prove themselves and be better. I've started it with myself, practiced it in my family, and now, to the UNO-Rian community to let go with the negative thoughts and actions instead aim for the best and grow as a better individual.

Why should you be crowned Miss UNO-R 2013?

I won't say that I have the looks and the wit as my key in winning the pageant because I believe that all of us candidates have those qualities. But instead, I'll say my faith in God will help me win the crown and my advocacy to make the youth be reminded to stand tall, stay strong and be better will be my very reason to win this competition.
