September
7 is BINYAGAN 2013 in UNO-R organized by the Department of Religious Education
with Campus Ministry Office and University Community Development Office.
This outreach project provides venue for students to enflesh the UNO-R core values of service, community life, justice and peace and sacramental life. Students enrolled in Religious Education courses organized themselves as a class to look for indigent families within Bacolod City to be adopted and prepare the children below six years old of their adopted families for Baptism.

Aside
from the gift of the Sacrament of Baptism given to the children, the class also
prepared some material goods from the resources that they gathered to be shared
to their adopted families.
For
this year, the Binyagan is held this September 7 to add more color and meaning
to the celebration of the Feast of St. Nicholas of Tolentino and University
Week 2013 Celebration—September 9 – 14.
Binyagan
2013 is a very special project because we will be holding this within the Year
of Faith which calls us to rediscover, renew and revitalize our Christian
faith. Since Baptism is a gateway to eternal life and membership in the Church,
making us sons and daughters of God, the baptism of these children will be our
special gift to them as members of this academic and Christian community.
These
were the adopted families of my REED students for this year:
Welcome, precious little children, so divine from God above. Christened today in Jesus' name, held in His arms of love. May angels guide your tiny feet and bring you smiles to wear, and may our Heavenly Father always keep you in His care.
