24-HOUR PUBLIC WEATHER FORECAST

SYNOPSIS: At 4:00 PM today, the Low Pressure Area (LPA) was estimated based on all available data at 51 km north of Malaybalay, Bukidnon or at 75 km east of Cagayan de Oro City (8.6ºN, 125.2ºE). Northeast monsoon affecting northern and central Luzon.

FORECAST: Central and eastern Visayas, Zamboanga Peninsula and northern Mindanao will experience cloudy skies with moderate to heavy rainshowers and thunderstorms which may trigger flashfloods and landslides. Palawan, Bicol region and the rest of Visayas and Mindanao will experience cloudy skies with light to moderate rainshowers and thunderstorms. Metro Manila and the rest of Luzon will experience partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated light rains.

Moderate to strong winds blowing from the northeast and east will prevail over Luzon and Visayas and coming from the east to northeast over the rest of Mindanao. The coastal waters throughout the archipelago will be moderate to rough.

TROPICAL DEPRESSION “ZORAIDA” HAS MADE LANDFALL OVER DAVAO ORIENTAL AND IS NOW MOVING NORTHWESTWARD.

LOCATION OF EYE/CENTER: At 10:00 AM today, the center of Tropical Depression “ZORAIDA” was estimated based on all available data to be in the vicinity of Boston, Davao Oriental or at 46 km North Northwest of Baganga, Davao Oriental (7.9°N, 126.4°E).

STRENGTH: Maximum winds of 55 kph near the center.

MOVEMENT: Forecast to move Northwest at 30 kph.

FORECAST POSITION: Tropical Depression “ZORAIDA” is expected to be at 110 km South Southwest of Cuyo Islands, Palawan by tomorrow morning. By Thursday morning, it is expected to be outside the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) at 630 km West of Coron, Palawan.

LUZON: Cuyo sland and Palawan including the Calamian Group.

Tropical Depression “Zoraida” is now moving closer to the Davao Region.

LOCATION OF EYE/CENTER: At 4:00 AM today, the center of Tropical Depression “ZORAIDA” was estimated based on all available data at 216 km Southeast of Hinatuan, Surigao Del Sur or at 192 km East of Davao City (6.8°N, 127.5°E).

STRENGTH: Maximum winds of 55 kph near the center.

MOVEMENT: Forecast to move Northwest at 30 kph.

FORECAST POSITION: Tropical Depression “ZORAIDA” is expected to be at 123 km South Southwest of Iloilo City by tomorrow morning and at 517 km West of Coron, Palawan by Thursday morning. By Thursday afternoon, it is expected to be outside the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) at 890 km West Northwest of Coron, Palawan.

Estimated rainfall amount is from 5 – 15 mm per hour (moderate - heavy) within the 300 km diameter of the Tropical Depression.


Residents in low lying areas and near mountain slopes are adviced to be alert against possible flashfloods and landslides.

Sea travel is risky over the northern and eastern seaboards of Luzon.

The public and the disaster risk reduction and management council concerned are advised to take appropriate actions and watch for the next bulletin to be issued at 11 AM today.

The tropical depression east of Southern Mindanao has entered the Philippine area of responsibility (PAR) and was named “ZORAIDA”.

Location of eye/center: At 4:00 AM today, the center of Tropical Depression “ZORAIDA” was estimated based on all available data at 950 km Southeast of Hinatuan, Surigao Del Sur (5.0°
N, 135.0°E).

Strength: Maximum sustained winds of 55 kph near the center.

Movement: Forecast to move Northwest at 28 kph.

Forecast Position: Tropical Depression “ZORAIDA” is expected to be at 400 km Southeast of Hinatuan, Surigao del Sur by tomorrow morning and in the vicinity of Tagbilaran City by Wednesday morning. By Thursday morning, it is expected to be at 170 km West of Coron, Palawan.

FORECAST: Mindanao and Eastern Visayas will be cloudy with light to moderate rainshowers and thunderstorms. The rest of Visayas will have partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rainshowers or thunderstorms.

Metro Manila and the rest of Luzon will experience partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated light rains.

Moderate to strong winds blowing from the Northeast will prevail over Luzon and and coming from the northeast to north over Mindanao. The coastal waters throughout the archipelago will be with moderate to rough.
