A.
RATIONALE
VERSE is a Biblical Pageant participated in
by Religious Education students enrolled in REEDBL2CO (Christology) which aims
to introduce an innovative and creative way in learning biblical stories, personalities,
and values.

B. OBJECTIVES
This Religious Education activity aims to
achieve the following objectives:
1) To provide opportunities for Religious Education
students to learn
biblical stories, characters and moral lessons with fun and creativity;
2) To propose a venue for effective intellectual, cultural and
social interaction among Religious Education students
in promoting awareness and dissemination
of biblical facts and values; and
3) To promote a culture where Religious
Education students will be exposed to informative activities
which will help enhance their leadership, creativity as well as their
aesthetic, cultural, social and intellectual skills in learning and sharing their
biblical knowledge through a beauty pageant.
4) To showcase the innovativeness of the
Religious Education Department in realizing the University philosophy, vision,
mission, goals and objectives as a Catholic educational institution.
C. QUALIFICATIONS
1) Candidates must be a bona fide student
of the University and must be enrolled in REEDBL2CO, Second Semester AY
2013-2014.
2) Each class shall have two (2) pairs of
biblical characters (one male and female) to represent.
3) Candidates must always be present in
any pre-pageant meetings and rehearsals set by the organizers.
4) All candidates must prepare for the
following segments: Production Number,
Biblical Wear Ramp, Talent Portion and Interview in which the candidates
must wear attires prescribed by the organizers.
5) Any violation of the rules and
guidelines shall incur ten (10) points deduction from the total accumulated
scores.
D. CRITERIA
FOR JUDGING
1. TALENT PORTION – The following
guidelines must be strictly observed:
a) The candidates must perform as
partners in one common presentation based from the biblical accounts of their
characters.
b) Performance must be within three and a
half (3:30) minutes only. Timer starts with the first sound, or action in the
talent. A timer will signal the end of the time duration. If candidates extend their
performance after this signal, two (2) points will be deducted from the average
score.
c) Props, back-up performers, or
supporting accompaniments may be used as long as they are provided by the team
and the set-up and set-down ,must be within one minute each. One (1) point will
be deducted for every second extension of set-up or pack-up.
d) Each team must be responsible for
preparing the technical requirements (music, lights, etc.) of their production.
e) The following are not allowed as
props: fire, water, deadly weapons, and other dangerous and explicitly
offending objects.
f) Talent presentations must be within
the bounds of moral decency and must not offend anyone’s sensibilities
g) The performance will be judged on the
following criteria:

Showmanship (Delivery, Stage Presence, Bearing) – 30%
g.2.
Props – 10%
g.3.
Creativity and Uniqueness – 20%
g.4.
Mastery – 15%
g.5.
Relevance to the Biblical Character – 15%
g.6.
Audience Impact – 10%
2. BIBLICAL WEAR RAMP – All candidates
must wear costumes based from their respective biblical characters. The segment
will be judged on the following criteria:
a) Authenticity and Design – 40%
b) Poise and Bearing – 20%
c) Suitability of the Attire – 15%
d) Stage Presence – 15%
e) Audience Impact – 10%

PRODUCTION
NUMBER – An opening production number of all biblical characters will be judged
based on the following criteria:
a) Personality and Stage Presence – 40%
b) Poise and Bearing – 25%
c) Over-all Performance (Mastery and
Timing) – 25%
d) Audience Impact – 10%
4. INTERVIEW – In the preliminary
interview, all candidates will be asked with questions based from the biblical
characters which they portray. For the final interview, the Top 3 Finalists
will be asked to answer one common question prepared by the organizer. They
will be given two (2) minutes to write their answer on a piece of paper, and
after which each candidate will be given a chance to deliver their answer
before the panel of judges.
a) Content (Relevance of the Answer) – 40%
b) Delivery (Pronunciation, Diction) – 25%
c) Confidence – 25%
d) Impact – 10%
5. MISTER AND MISS PHOTOGENIC -The
Official Photographers will judge this category.
6. MISTER AND MISS SOCIAL MEDIA –The award
will be determined based on the number of online votes via Facebook.
7. MISTER AND MISS TOLENTINE MISSOSOLOGY
– The award will be based on facial beauty based from photos available online
(30%), performance in preliminary competition (30%), preliminary interview
(30%) and online votes (10%).

TABULATION OF
SCORES
To
qualify for the TOP 3, average scores from the following segments will be
considered:
a)
Talent – 20%
b)
Biblical Wear Ramp – 25%
c)
Preliminary Interview – 30%
d)
Production Number – 15%
e)
Online Votes – 10%
The
average scores in each portion shall be weighted according to the break-down
stated above then totaled. Candidates with the top three scores shall move to
the final round. In the final round, all the previous scores will be discarded
and a ranking system will be used
.
Judges
will rank the three finalists; rank 1 being the highest, based on the
finalist’s answer to the final question. Rankings will all be tallied and
totaled. The candidate with the lowest aggregate rank total wins the title, and
the next ranking aggregate total shall be awarded runners-up
The
decision of the Board of Judges is final and irrevocable.

All computations will be done by official tabulators.

Beauties secure a spot in the Final Round of the Competition! Vote here. Online Voting begins February 20 (Thursday, 10:30 PM)
and ends on March 4, 2014 (Tuesday, 9:00 PM). The online votes will constitute
ten percent (10%) of the total scores in the selection of the TOP 3 Finalists
for the final round of the competition.
