UNO-R Catholic Faith Festival 2014 Primer




RATIONALE

Cognizant of the call of the Church for a renewed integral evangelization and preparation for the Fifth Centenary of the Christian Faith in the Philippines, the Religious Education Department of the University commits itself to work for the renewal and strengthening of the Catholic Faith of the UNO-R academic community, especially our college students.

In line with this, the Religious Education Department in collaboration with the Campus Ministry Office, University Community Development Office, Colleges and Students’ Councils, UNO-RSGGO, Tolentine Star and Campus Religious Organizations will organize and celebrate the first historic Catholic Faith Festival (Religious Education Days) on September 25 – 26 with the theme, “Enhancing UNO-R Catholic Culture in the Year of the Laity.” 

 OBJECTIVES

At the end of this two-day event, the students will be able to:

1.    identify and express their role as young lay members of the church

2.    recognize and communicate the value of their Catholic faith

3.    participate actively in the programs and activities of the Year of the Laity

4.    commit themselves zealously in the various ecological, socio-cultural, moral, and spiritual concerns of the Church


EVENTS AND MECHANICS

COSPLAY

1.    The competition is open to all bonafide Religious Education students, male and female, duly endorsed by their respective REED Advisers.

2.    This is a Religious Education COSPLAY, where participants could cosplay any biblical characters or saints that they love to dress up and look like.

3.    The COSPLAY will be held on September 25, 2014, after the Mass at the University Gymnasium.

4.    All cosplayers must pre-register to join the contest. Pre-Registration Forms can be secured from REED teachers and to be submitted to MR. DENNIS MADRIGAL at the REED Office on or before September 16. Only those who have pre-registered and submitted the complete requirements within the specified date will be eligible to join the contest. There will be NO on-site registration.

5.    All registrants are required to submit A REFERENCE PICTURE OF THE CHARACTER that they’ll be cosplaying.

6.    There will be only 15 characters per to be accepted as official contestants. All cosplayers will be given number tags that must be worn at all times.

7.    Contestants in each category shall have corresponding time limits for their on-stage performance. Category contestants shall have a maximum of TWO MINUTES for their performance. Exceeding the time provided will result in a maximum deduction from the overall score of the contestant or even disqualification.

8.    Dangerous articles such as metallic weaponry (swords, knives, etc.), firearms, and pyrotechnics of ANY kind that may cause damage to the venue or harm to fellow cosplayers and/or event staff and attendees are strictly NOT allowed as props for the Cosplay Competition. Any articles made from any other material such as cardboard, PVC, Styrofoam, etc. are allowed to be used as props for the competition.

9.    Permission is granted to the organizers to use the costumes photographed/filmed during the contest for future promotions.

10.  The organizers reserve the right to (a) refuse entry/display of any costumes entered into the competition that they deem inappropriate; (b) to cut short any acts that they deem to be inappropriate; (c) to disqualify any contestants within reason; and (d) to adjust the rules of this competition in any way it sees fit and disqualify any entry for non-compliance with the rules and regulations outlined in this document.

11.  By entering the competition, the participant agrees to abide by all the terms and conditions as set out in this document. Participants who do not follow these rules will be disqualified.

12.  The cosplayers in both categories shall be judged using the following criteria:

a.    40% - Craftsmanship
b.    30% - Accuracy/Authenticity
c.    20% - Stage Performance
d.    10% - Audience Impact

13.  Judges’ decisions are final and can’t be appealed.

14.  Top 5 Participants in each category will be announced and awarded in the afternoon of September 26, 2014.



PHOTO CONTEST

A.  Mechanics

1.    The contest is open to all bonafide UNO-R students— amateur and professional photography enthusiasts.

2.    All participants are required to submit the copy of the signed REGISTRATION AND WAIVER FORM which can be secured from their respective REED Advisers and to be submitted to Mr. Dennis Madrigal at the REED Office on or before September 3, 2014. Only those students who submitted the complete requirements within the specified date will be eligible to join the photo contest.

3.    All participants are responsible for providing their photographic equipment, including cameras, spare batteries, lenses or additional memory cards. They are expected to come prepared with their own photographic equipment needs.

4.    The participants can submit a maximum of five (5) photos for the photo contest which is open for both point-and-shoot and DSLR users.

5.    Photos must be taken during the Catholic Faith Festival 2014 Celebration on September 25 – 26, 2014. Participants are to report to the University Auditorium by 1:00 AM for the formal registration and determination of their official contest numbers and competition briefing. Any late arrivals will be disqualified.

6.    Concept should be original, entertaining and wholesome, depicting the spirit of the Religious Education Days 2014 Celebration — youth, faith, worship, unity, solidarity, celebration and fellowship.

7.    “Set” shots with models, and other paraphernalia that will be part of the image are not allowed.

8.    Entries which suggest and/or show obscene and indecent acts or poses, offensive to Catholic moral standards are not eligible and therefore disqualified as entries.

9.    Use of logos and brand names, foul language and violent actions are grounds for immediate disqualifications.

10.  The following are the list of equipment that you can bring and utilize during the Catholic Faith Festival  2014 Photo Contest:

11.  The Catholic Faith Festival 2014 Photo Contest is a two-day photo-taking event, so participants should take extra care of their own health and comfort. By taking part in this event, participants acknowledge that the organizer is indemnified against any accidents or injuries that may occur during the course of the event.

12.  All participants must abide by the competition rules. Violation of any above-stated rules and/or non-compliance of the same shall be a ground for automatic disqualification

B. Submission of Entries 

13.  All entries must be submitted both in hard copies/printouts and digital copies. No RAW files will be allowed. Images may not be altered by any image editing software. Enhancements must be limited to basic post-processing such as adjustments of contrast, minimal color — balancing, sharpening, cropping, and dodging and burning.

For digital copies, images will only be accepted in JPEG format. Image size should have at least 1800 pixels X 1200 pixels at 280/300 DPI. 

For hard copies/printouts, images will only be accepted in 8” x10” canvass size in 300 resolution.

14.  All entries should be submitted on or before the given deadline – 5:00PM (September 27, 2014, until 12:00 NN only). The Catholic Faith Festival 2014 Photo Contest Organizing Committee shall have no liability for delayed, corrupted or lost entries.  The organizers reserve the right to refuse and disqualify the photo entries which will be submitted beyond the deadline.

15.  All entries must be an original material taken by the photographer and should not include watermarks, signatures, frames, date and/or time stamp or any other markings on the photo. Names of photographers shall be included only after the judging and during the photo exhibition.

16.  Entries must be unpublished and not be submitted or to be submitted to any other competition, owned by other entity, nor subject of any copyright issue.

17.  Costs of photo developing and other related expenses shall be shouldered by the participant.

18.  The Catholic Faith Festival 2014 Photo Contest Organizing Committee respects the rights of the photographer and recognizes that the copyright of the photograph belongs to the photographer.  Nonetheless, by participating in the contest, the photographer shares his/her copyright to the Catholic Faith Festival 2014 Photo Contest Organizing Committee.  The organizer reserves the right to use any submitted photograph for the purpose of information, advocacy, campaigns and promotions in all its Catholic Faith Festival 2014 activities and projects in the future, whether print, online, or any other medium without compensation to the photographer. Proper acknowledgement will be made.

C.   Selection of Winning Entries

19.  From all the submitted photo entries, five (5) judges composed of photographers and Catholic Faith Festival 2014 Academic Committee representatives shall pick three winners.  

20.  Decisions by the organizer and competition judges are final. No appeals will be entertained.

D. Prizes

1.    The Photo Contest of the Catholic Faith Festival 2014 winners – the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd placers – will receive Certificates of Recognition and Cash Prizes.

2.    The finalists’ entries shall be put on display at the University Main Lobby for Photo Exhibit after the Catholic Faith Festival 2014.

3.    The date of the Awarding of Prizes to winners will be done at the REED Office. Details of the Awarding Ceremony will be announced soon.


VIDEO MAKING CONTEST

A. Objectives

The Video Making Contest aims to:

1.      To provide opportunities for the Religious Education students to develop and enhance their interest in and knowledge about film production.

2.      To promote a culture where members of the academic community engage in the film making as a medium in promoting and disseminating social, cultural, environmental and religious realities and issues while at same time communicating Gospel values. 

3.      To encourage the members of the academic community to produce short films for evangelization, media literacy and promotion of the indie film making in the University.


B. Mechanics

1.    Each REED adviser can only endorse one (1) team with 10-15 members to join the contest.  A pre-registration form is available at the REED Office and be submitted to MR. DENNIS MADRIGAL on or before September 3, 2014 not later than 5:00 P.M.

2.    The video entry must be an original work produced by REED students. Students are 100% responsible for all production costs of the video

3.    The total running time of the video must not be less than 1 minute and must not exceed 3 minutes, including the opening and closing credits.

4.    All entries should begin with a 10 second full-screen “title screen” that includes the following information:

5.    The video must be in English and/or Hiligaynon (subtitles in English must be provided).

6.    The main concept of the video must explore and communicate the theme, “Choose to be Brave, Called to be Saints, Sent forth as Heroes” or the Year of the laity in general.

7.    The video may use any genre as long as it can best explore and communicate the theme.

8.    Original musical score is strongly recommended but the production team may adapt musical scores from varied sources provided a detailed acknowledgment (the name of the album, composer and artist) must be included in the final credits of the film.

9.    The video must be viewable for all audiences. Profane language or personal attacks on people or organizations are prohibited. Any entry deemed inappropriate or unsuitable will be disqualified. 

10.  No copyrighted materials (music, images, etc.) may be used for this contest unless you own the copyright or have a license to use the material for this contest. Written permission must be obtained and provided upon request for all copyrighted materials.

11.  All entries must be submitted in digital format. It must be saved and submitted as avi, wmv, mpg, mpg4 or vlc formats on DVD.

12.  One DVD copy of the official entry must be submitted to the REED Office on September 25, 2014, not later than 2:00 PM.  All entries will become property of the Religious Education Department.

13.  Students should keep at least one copy of their video. The organizer is not responsible for any video entries that are lost and damaged

14.  The judges’ decision is final. Entries will be judged based on the Judging Rubric.

CHURCH DIORAMA CONTEST

 1.    Each REED faculty member is eligible to send one (1) group composed of ten to fifteen members to represent his/her team.

2.    The group must fill-up pre-registration form and submit the same on September 3, 2014.

3.    They will be assigned to bring their reusable/recyclable (used/old) materials together with tools and equipments needed to build their church diorama.

4.    The project must be executed on the spot for two hours only.

5.    Materials must be laid out before the contest begins.

6.    One table will be assigned for each team for the church diorama contest. The team should make their diorama fit in the space provided for them.

7.    They will clean the place as soon as their diorama is done.

8.    Church dioramas will be displayed until the end of the Catholic Faith Festival 2014 or extended according to public demand

 ALTAR-MAKING

1.    Each college will be responsible for providing a statue and preparing the altar of the patron saint of their building or college.

2.    The Religious Education Department shall specify the standard height of the statue and the dimension of the altar. Likewise, the Department will also assist the different colleges in looking for the appropriate images of their patron saints and guide them in the preparation of the altars.

3.    The altar must be assembled and displayed in a prominent area near their college office during the duration of the Catholic Faith Festival

4.     The altar must be detachable and easily carried for procession by four members of their college.

5.    The statues of the patron saints will be blessed on September 10, 2014.

6.     The statues of the patron saints will be brought out for procession on September 26, 2014 from 1606 Park to the Gymnasium for the solemn enthronement. Each college dean with her/his faculty and staff and student representatives will join the procession.

7.    After the cultural presentation in the evening, the statues will be solemnly brought back to their respective colleges/offices for their permanent enthronement.

Mechanics for the Procession:

1.    At exactly 3:00 PM, the Divine Mercy Prayer will signal the start of the prayer in each college.

2.    The College Dean, faculty, staff and students will hold a short prayer of petition invoking the help of their patron saint.

3.    After which, they go in procession, bringing their patron saint to the assembly place in front of the 1606 Park.

4.    Those joining the procession will provide their own candles. Procession from the 1606 Park will start at exactly 3:30 P.M. and proceed to the Amphitheater.

5.    Each college will be welcomed with great applause as they enter the gym.

6.    Enthronement ceremony follows.

NOTE: At the end of a short but meaningful para-liturgical celebration, awarding of winners will follow.  The Catholic Faith Festival will end with a cultural presentation and a candle lighting ceremony when we shall sing again the REED Days’ theme song. After the cultural presentation in the evening, the statues will be solemnly brought back to their respective colleges/offices for their permanent enthronement.

  
BRAIN CHALLENGE

1.   The contest is open to all bonafide Religious Education (REED) students only and must be officially endorsed by their respective REED Advisers.

2.  A maximum of five (5) participants per REED Adviser can join the contest. Pre-Registration Forms can be secured from their respective REED teachers and to be submitted to MRS. GENIE PEDROSA/MRS. MARY JANE ERANISTA at the REED Office on or before September 3. Only those who have pre-registered and submitted the complete requirements within the specified date will be eligible to join the contest.

3.    Participants are to report to the University Auditorium by 1:00 PM for the formal registration and determination of their official contest numbers and competition briefing. Any late arrivals will be disqualified. The contest will immediately follow around 9:00 AM.

4.    All questions will only cover young saints, Filipino and Recollect saints and other pertinent information to the Year of the Laity, Articles of the Creed, and Augustinian Recollect History in Negros in general.

5.    Questions will be prepared by the REED Days Quiz Bowl Committee.

6.    The contest is divided into two main parts: the Qualifying Round and the Final Round.

7.    There will be thirty (30) questions which will be distributed into three categories: Easy Questions (15), Moderate Questions (10) and Difficult Questions (5).

8.    Questions shall be Multiple Choice for the qualifying round, easy and moderate questions. No choices shall be provided for the difficult questions.

9.    Since the questions will be flashed on screen, the questions shall be read only once after which no repetition of the same will be done.

10.  The contestant shall not write the answers until the signal is given. Timer will start as the quizmaster gives the signal “GO.” A bell shall be rung to signal that the time I up and the contestant should stop writing.

11.  Contestants will be given 10 seconds to answer each question in the qualifying round, easy and moderate questions, and 20 seconds in the difficult questions.

12.  No points shall be awarded for incomplete and wrongly spelled answers.

13.  The points to be awarded for each correct answer will be as follows:

14.  At the end of each round, the total score of each contestant will be computed. Only those contestants who belonged to the Top Ten highest scores will qualify and proceed to the Final Round.

15.   The contestant with the highest score at the end of the difficult round shall be declared the Champion; while the second and third highest scoring contestants as the first and second runners-up respectively.

16.  In case of a tie, a clincher question/s will be given. The first contestant to gain a point advantage shall be declared winner.

17.  Protest arising from the contest must be addressed to the panel of judges which will be composed of the Vice President for Religious Affairs and all REED Teachers. The validity of the answer shall be decided upon by the judges. The decision of the judges is final and irrevocable.

18.  The audience must observe silence while the contest is going on. COACHING IS STRICTLY NOT ALLOWED FROM THE AUDIENCE.

19.  All contestants must abide by the contest rules.

20.  One point will be deducted from the total score of the contestant for every violation of any above-stated rules and/or non-compliance of the same.

21.  Winners will receive the following prizes:

First Place     -           Php 500.00 + Certificate of Recognition
Second Place -          Php 300.00 + Certificate of Recognition
Third Place    -           Php 200.00 + Certificate of Recognition
            Fourth – Eight Places will receive Certificates of Participation.



ON-THE-SPOT POSTER MAKING CONTEST

 A. Mechanics

1. Only two participants per REED teacher will be allowed. Pre-Registration Forms can be secured from REED Advisers and to be submitted to MS. ELVIE TONOGBANUA at the REED Office on or before September 3. Only those who have pre-registered and submitted the complete requirements within the specified date will be eligible to join the contest.

2. Participants are to report to the University Auditorium by 1:00 PM for the formal registration and determination of their official contest numbers and competition briefing. Any late arrivals will be disqualified.

3. The contest theme is “Enhancing UNO-R Catholic Culture in the Year of the Laity.”   The interested contestants shall create a poster, visually expressing the theme of the celebration.

4. The contestants are free to use any medium in making the poster.

5. The poster must be done and submitted in ¼ illustration board size.

6. The illustration board and other materials must be provided by the individual contestant. Allowed materials to be used are as follows: markers/pens/pencil, colored pencils, crayons, pastel, oil paints, poster color, water, color, ink.

7. The poster must be done only on the spot on September 25, 2014 at REED Grounds
and must be completed within the allotted time of three hours from 2:00 PM until 5:00 NN.

8. All entries will be pre-numbered. No signatures, names or other identifying marks should appear at either side of the material of the entry. All posters will automatically become official property of the REED Days 2014 Academics Committee.

9. The judging of entries will be done on September 26 at the UNO-R Main Lobby. Winners will be announced and awarded with their respective prizes in the afternoon.

ON-THE-SPOT ESSAY WRITING CONTEST


A. Mechanics:

1. The Essay must be original and must expound the theme of the 1st UNO-Recoletos Religious Education Days: “Enhancing UNO-R Catholic Culture in the Year of the Laity.”   

2. The Academic Committee will provide all materials for the contestants.

3. All Essays should be written in English/Filipino and shall consist of not less than 500 words nor more than 600 words.

4. The entry shall not, in whole or in part, offend any religion, sect or creed, nor violate neither the standards of decency nor the laws on libel and oral defamation.

5. The participants will be endorsed by their respective REED advisers. A maximum of two participants (one for English, one for Filipino) will be allowed per REED teacher. Pre-Registration Forms can be secured from their respective REED teachers and to be submitted to MS. ELVIE TONOGBANUA at the REED Office on or before September 3. Only those who have pre-registered and submitted the complete requirements within the specified date will be eligible to join the contest.

6. Participants are to report to the University Auditorium by 1:00 PM for the formal registration and determination of their official contest numbers and competition briefing. Any late arrivals will be disqualified. The contest will immediately follow around 2:00 PM at TV 202.

7. All essays will automatically become official property of the Religious Education Days 2014 Academic Committee.

8. No distinguishing mark or name of the contestant shall appear in the entry.

 ON-THE-SPOT POEM WRITING CONTEST

1.    The contest is open to students currently enrolled in REEDBD1CO and REEDCS3CO.

2.    A maximum of two participants (one for English, one for Filipino) duly endorsed by their respective REED advisers are allowed per REED teacher. Pre-Registration Forms can be secured from their respective REED teachers and to be submitted to MS. ELVIE TONOGBANUA at the REED Office on or before September 3. Only those who have pre-registered and submitted the complete requirements within the specified date will be eligible to join the contest.

3.    Participants are to report to the University Auditorium by 1:00 PM for the formal registration and determination of their official contest numbers and competition briefing. Any late arrivals will be disqualified. The contest will immediately follow around 2:00 PM at Father Cuenca Hall.

4.    The poem must be original and must expound the theme of the Year of the Laity: “Choose to be Brave, Called to be Saints, Sent forth as Heroes.”  

4.1.        English Entry
§  Use English language
§  Free Verse Form (No rhyme and no meter)
§  Maximum of 20 lines
§  Maybe composed of many stanzas

4.2.        Filipino Entry
§  Use Filipino Language
§  Form should be a Tanaga.
§  Maximum of 2 stanzas
§  Four (4) lines for each stanza
§  Eight (8) or nine (9) syllables for each line
§  Last syllables should rhyme.

5.    All writing materials will be provided for the contestants.

6.    Entries must be written on-the-spot.

7.    No distinguishing mark or name of the contestant shall appear in the entry. Instead, registration numbers shall be written on the top most part of the entry page.

8.    The entry shall not, in whole or in part, offend any religion, sect or creed, nor violate neither the standards of decency nor the laws on libel and oral defamation.

9.    Plagiarism and use of vulgar and indecent language are grounds for disqualification.

10.  In case of a tie, the decision of the Chairman of the Board of Judges shall prevail.

11.  The decision of the Board of Judges is final and irrevocable.

12.  Winning entries shall automatically become the property of the Religious Education Department who shall have the right to publish them.

13.  The announcement and awarding of winners shall be done on September 26, 2014.

14. Criteria for Judging:

Content (Relevance to the Theme) – 40%

Unity (Use of devices that contribute to the theme) – 15%

Language (Use of appropriate words, figurative language, symbolism and imagery) – 15%

Structure/Form (Adherence to prescribed form, rhyme, scheme, length, and meter) – 15%

Mechanics (Correctness of Grammar, punctuation and spelling) – 15%



THEME SONG CHORAL SINGING CONTEST

 1.    Each group must be composed of at least 20-30 members. They can be a combination of singers, dancers and instrumentalists. 

2.    The members of the choir should demonstrate the ability to sing and interpret the official theme song of Catholic Faith Festival 2014. Please coordinate with Mrs. Mary Jane Eranista for the copies of the lyrics, musical chords and the instrumental version of the song. 

3.    The members of the choir should demonstrate the ability to add movement or choreography to their performance that complements the music.

4.    Use of props is highly encouraged to develop the visual aspect of the performance.

5.    The group is responsible for bringing their own musical instruments as needed. 

6.    The song rendition should not exceed five (5) minutes. There will be a one-minute grace period for entrance and another minute for the exit.

7.    Costumes are highly encouraged to add up to the total performance however, it must be decent and proper for the performance. The COMPETITIONS COMMITTEE deserves the right not to allow the performance of a group due to costume technicalities.

WYD THEME SONG DANCE CONTEST


Mechanics and Guidelines:

1.  The competition is open to all bonafide Religious Education students duly endorsed by their respective REED Advisers.

2. There shall be 20 – 30 participants for each group.

3.  To join the contest, each group must pre-register to join the contest. Pre-Registration Forms can be secured from REED teachers and to be submitted to MR. DENNIS MADRIGAL at the REED Office on or before September 16. Only those who have pre-registered and submitted the complete requirements within the specified date will be eligible to join the contest.

4. The official dance music to be interpreted is the theme song of the World Youth Day 2013.

5. Costume and props must express the motif of the World Youth Day 2013 celebration.

6. Dangerous and flammable items and pyrotechnics of ANY kind that may cause damage to the venue or harm to fellow participants and/or event staff and attendees are strictly NOT allowed as props for the dance competition.

7. The dance interpretation will be judged based on the following criteria:

Mastery of Performance – 30%
Accuracy and precision of performance, fluency of entrance and exit, use of dance area

Choreography – 30%
Originality, appropriateness, variety

Costume and Props – 30%
Appropriateness of costumes and props, clarity of their symbolic meaning

Overall Impact – 10%
Effectiveness of performance, difficulty level and energy and rapport


8. The decision of the judges is final and irrevocable.

9. Winners will be announced on September 26, 2014 and awarded with certificates and cash prizes.


 REED DEBATE

1. There shall be two sets of debate, one for REEDBD1CO and one REEDCS 3CO.

2. The debate shall follow the Oxford-Oregon Debate Format. Each set of debate shall have two (2) debating teams, one is for the affirmative side and the other one is for the negative side.

3.  Each team must be composed of three (3) speakers and two (2) researchers. The affirmative side shall have the following speakers:
a.    Necessity Speaker
b.    Beneficiality Speaker
c.    Practicality Speaker
d.    Rebuttalist Speaker (either of the 3 Speakers)

4.    On the other hand, the negative side shall also have the following speakers:
a.    Non-Necessity Speaker
b.    Non-Beneficiality Speaker
c.    Non-Practicality Speaker
d.    Rebuttalist Speaker (either of the 3 Speakers)

5.    The debate proper will be opened by a five-minute speech of the first speaker (necessity speaker) of the affirmative side. On the fourth minute of the speech, the timer will ring the bell once; and twice at the end of the fifth minute.

6.    After the speech delivery of the first affirmative speaker, the first negative speaker (non-necessity speaker) will be given three minutes for the interpellation. The bell will be rung once on the last minute of the interpellation and twice at the end of the third minute.

7.   Thereafter the interpellation, the first negative speaker will then deliver his/her speech for five minutes, which will also be followed by a three-minute interpellation of the first affirmative speaker.

8.  The same rules apply for the second and third speakers of both teams.

9.  After the interpellation of the third affirmative speaker, the rebuttalist of the negative side will be given three minutes to prepare for his five-minute rebuttal speech and shall be followed by the affirmative rebuttalist.

10.  One team will be chosen as the Best Debating Team for each debating round. In every debate round, only one from among the speakers of both teams will be chosen as the Best Speaker, and another as the Best Debater.

12.   Use of foul and vulgar language is prohibited, and will be grounds for disqualification.

11.  For the purpose of the general public’s comprehension, the medium of communication shall be 70% English and 30% Hiligaynon.

12.  In case of a tie, the Chairman of the Board of Judges shall break the tie and determine the winning team. The decision of the Board of Judges is final.


CULTURAL PRESENTATION

1.    There must be one group representative of students (20-30 members) from each full-time REED Faculty and another group representative from Part-time REED teachers.

2.    The performance must run from 5 to 7 minutes only including the entrance and the exit.

3.    Though the cultural presentation is not a competition but special awards will be given to beautiful performances. These awards will include:

a. Best in Choreography
b. Best in Costume
c. Best in Discipline
d. Best Performance

4.    The presentation must depict the religious-cultural dance festivals in the Philippines, namely:

a. Sinulog
b. Pahiyas
c. Pintados
d. Kadayawan
e. Pasalamat
f. Masskara (Modified)
g. Pintaflores
            h. La Virgen de Caracol

5.    Through a drawing of lots, each REED faculty will be assigned a specific dance presentation for his/her group.

6.    The cultural presentations will be on September 26, 2014 at the UNO-R Amphitheater.

7.    REED faculty members, CMO staff, Fr. Moral and Fr. Latoza shall join in the cultural presentation through the Sinulog Dance.

8.    Each REED group representatives shall be responsible for their respective choreographer, schedule of practices, costumes, and props.

9.    REED faculty members shall coordinate with Ms. Genie for the schedule of practices in the gym on September 22-24.

10.  All participants of the cultural show must attend the general technical rehearsal on September 25, 6:00 P.M.



YEAR 2014: LAITY. This year is to be devoted to the renewal of the laity, to their “empowerment” or more accurately to activating their charisms from the “Spirit, so that they may indeed take up their role as co-responsible agents of evangelization and lead in the task of social transformation. In this regard, of paramount global importance is the ecological challenge of climate change.
