every skill and ability God has given me has a great purpose.
What
is your take on ALS Ice Bucket Challenge?
Most
people took part in joining the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge without knowing its
real purpose, that is, for charity. People do the activity for fame and to fit
in in what is viral in the internet, they get hurt and bullied. We should
always remember to use our minds in thinking for the reason and purpose in
doing any thing.
What
do you think is the essence of a true-blooded UNO-Rian?
The
essence of a true-blooded UNO-Rian is to be able to reach out, inspire and
maybe change other people with UNO-R core values instilled in their hearts.

Aside

B. PERSONAL THOUGHTS
How
would you describe your personality?
I
am a positive kind of person. I am not perfect, and I don’t aim to be one. My
personality is what makes me unique. I am the type of person who struggles to
develop a pleasing personality rather than struggle to enhance my physical
attributes. That’s what makes me unique. I struggle to beautify my personality.
Tell
us something interesting about your course.
One
thing most people don’t know about our course is that without Medical
Technology, many lives wouldn’t have been saved. Medical Technology offers a
risky life to the aspirants, yet, a meaningful one knowing that you have been
a part of a person’s recovery and somehow, you have alleviated the pain they’re
experiencing.
Who
or what inspires you the most?
My

everything I do, I give my very best all for the glory of God and for my

What
is your take on ALS Ice Bucket Challenge?
For
me, the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge is very beneficial provided that people
performing it do such for the benefit of people having ALS and donate money to
help them alleviate the pain they’re experiencing. But nowadays, the essence of
ALS Ice Bucket Challenge has been lost since several people do such only for
fun.
What
do you think is the essence of a true-blooded UNO-Rian?
We
all know that UNO-R is the cradle of excellence. We, UNO-Rians, never settle
for mediocrity, yet, we aim for the best. But being the best does not always
mean being on top. We have our different ways of being the best. Being the best
entails never giving up. That is the essence of being a true-blooded UNO-Rian,
coming across a lot of challenges along the way, yet keeps on trying and never
gives up.
What
do you think is the relevance of the pageant to UNO-R academic community?
I
believe that the pageant’s relevance to the UNO-R academic community is that
through it the University will be able to see how far the learnings of the
candidates are. In short, we, the candidates learn the theories in our
academics, and the pageant is the application of what we’ve learned.
If
you win the crown, how will you use your title to benefit the studentry and the
University?
If
given the chance to win the crown, I will do my best to be a good ambassadress
of good will. I will use my title to be a good role model to the studentry. If
given the opportunity, as Miss UNO-R, I would like to conduct a medical mission
on a monthly basis to ensure the health of everybody and I would also like to
adopt the system from UNO-R High School wherein every year level attends the
Mass weekly. With this, I could nourish the students physically and
spiritually.
How
would you convince the judges and the audience that you deserve the title, Miss
UNO-R 2014?
I’ve
been in this prestigious institution for more than half of my life. I’ve also
been joining pageants to develop my self-confidence and along the way, I’ve
learned to love what I’m doing. Combine these two, I believe that I can
convince the judges and audience that I deserve the title, Miss UNO-R.

Everybody

yes I am and that what makes my course interesting. The thrill of combining
theories and Mathematics, and of course, a strong heart in giving people great
infrastructures [make my course quite interesting].
Who
or what inspires you the most?
There
are so many people who inspire me but the one who inspires me the most is my
mother. She is a woman of strong personality. I can barely see her smile but
when I told her that I have a plan of joining [the pageant], she smiles and
encouraged me and that’s when I realized that I’m willing to risk more just to
[make] her smile once more.
What
is your take on ALS Ice Bucket Challenge?
There
is more than the funds that the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge can offer. It’s the
support those people can get. Showing those sick people that we unite and
encourage them to have the will to fight through their worst cases, I guess
it’s the greatest medicine of all. And that’s what makes the program appealing
to me.
What
do you think is the essence of a true-blooded UNO-Rian?
UNO-Rians

When a prayer is being played, they always stop and pray together. A person or

their talent, intelligence and God-given beauty but can still excel in their
academic studies.
If
you win the crown, how will you use your title to benefit the studentry and the
University?
Winning
the crown gives me a great opportunity of helping UNO-R in influencing people.
UNO-R taught me great values and I will use these values in helping other
people because the simplest way of helping your school is showing others that
you are a good product of your school and that’s when you can influence them.
How
would you convince the judges and the audience that you deserve the title, Miss
UNO-R 2014?
I

ALS

Actually,
my course is quite hard. It was not my first choice but in the end I was able
to love it. What makes it interesting is that it challenges me to study hard.
It taught me to be studious and gave me the chance to prove that I can take
even a very complicated course.
Who
or what inspires you the most?
It’s
my family who inspires me. If there’s one thing I thanked God is that he gave
me a very supportive family. I believe that having them is more than having a
crown. As what they have told me,
whether I lose or win, they will always be there for me.
What
is your take on ALS Ice Bucket Challenge?
ALS
Ice Bucket Challenge is a good way to increase awareness for those who are
sick. For me, they should take it seriously because it is not just about having
fun but very helpful. It is a way to show everyone that we can do better things
all together. Although it might be a very simple thing to do but it will be a
big deal to those who need the support.
What
do you think is the essence of a true-blooded UNO-Rian?
The
essence of a true-blooded UNO-Rian is being CHARITABLE. It’s an acronym which
composes the characteristics of a true-blooded UNO-Rian. When I was in Grade
School, we were taught to be charitable. Besides, I learned that going to this
University is not just studying hard but also to be a good example or role
model to everyone.
What
do you think is the relevance of the pageant to UNO-R academic community?
This
pageant will test the capability of a UNO-Rian. This will show how competitive
UNO-Rians are. Besides, this pageant will determine how UNO-Rians will deal
difficult problems—spiritual, ethical, and morally, and test them. Everything
happens for a reason.
If
you win the crown, how will you use your title to benefit the studentry and the
University?
Honestly
speaking, I’m not after the crown. I joined the pageant because I want my
family and my department to be happy. I never imagined myself to be in the
center stage. Somehow I can’t control my destiny. It is just God who can tell
what path I should go through. If I win the crown, I will set as an example to
everyone. I will encourage them to be humble and determined in what they are
doing. Besides, I want to tell them that they should put God at the center of
everything.
How
would you convince the judges and the audience that you deserve the title, Miss
UNO-R 2014?
I
think I don’t have to convince either the judges or the audience that I deserve

friends, socializing and sharing myself with others. To sum it up in these
words – I am “LITTLE MISS SUNSHINE. “
Tell
us something interesting about your course.
Contrary
to what others may think, being an Education student is not just about learning
how to handle classes and majoring in English does not make your life tied to
sentence structure and grammar. Being an English major is a magical world of
gods and goddesses in Mythology, literary works from all over the world,
costumes and plays in Theater, vocabulary-building, critical-thinking, and
improving your grammar while having a lot of fun in activities. More
importantly, my course makes all other professions possible – as there will be
no other courses if there are no teachers.
Who
or what inspires you the most?
I
believe it is the love and support that I am getting from my family, friends,
and from the College of Education that inspires me the most as I join the
pageant. I am blessed with very supportive parents that never say ‘No’ to me
when I join endeavors that they believe will help me improve and grow as a
person, and they always make sure I am at my best. The support I get from my
friends and from the people in CoEd is also very overwhelming and I am very
grateful for it. Whenever I am up on stage, I dedicate my performance to them.
What
is your take on ALS Ice Bucket Challenge?
I
believe the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge is a very innovative way of raising public
awareness and concern about the Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS) or the Lou Gehrig’s
disease – and raising funds for its research. With its spread on the worldwide
web, the Ice Bucket Challenge has engaged millions to be more aware of the
disease and how does an ALS-inflicted person feel through the cold ice
activity. Even if some just do it for fun and to join the trend, at least they
contribute to spreading awareness regardless if they donate funds or not. I’d
suggest some would take precaution as the activity poses certain health risks
and could be fatal as well.
What
do you think is the essence of a true-blooded UNO-Rian?
I
believe the essence of being a true-blooded UNO-Rian starts with three letters –
ABC. A is for AIMING FOR EXCELLENCE – as students of the University that is the
Cradle of Excellence, always aim for excellence in all that you do. B is for
BALANCING ACADEMICS AND EXTRA-CURRICULARS – UNO-Rians know how to balance work
and play and succeed at both with[out] compromising the other. lastly, C is for
CHRISTLIKE LIVING – as members of a Catholic Institution, UNO-Rians must live a
life that is filled with good faith as they follow the examples that Christ has
set for us.
What
do you think is the relevance of the pageant to UNO-R academic community?
I
believe the search for Mister and Miss UNO-R is an epitome of how a UNO-Rian is
holistically molded for excellence. As an academic community, UNO-R aims to and
puts conscious effort to produce individuals who are not just mentally excellent
through academics – but also emotionally, physically, socially, spiritually
through various programs and activities of the University. The pageant paves
the way for the University to find its Ambassadors that will not only stand as
role models of UNO-Rians for excellence, but also to show that UNO-Rians are
BEAUTIES WITH BRAINS.
If
you win the crown, how will you use your title to benefit the studentry and the
University?
If
ever I will be crowned as Miss UNO-R 2014, I will use my title ( and the
influence that comes with it) to further push my advocacies for the environment
and for leading my fellow UNO-Rians to a more meaningful University life by
setting a good example or becoming a role model. As a EDC-BINHI national Youth
Ambassador for the Environment, I will influence other UNO-Rians to be more
aware and concerned with the issues our environment is facing – not only will I
be contributing to helping save our environment, but I will also be setting an
example of a student who not only excels in school, but also in social actions.
This makes UNO-R a home of well-rounded and socially-concerned individuals.
How
would you convince the judges and the audience that you deserve the title, Miss UNO-R 2014?
I
do believe that I am capable of being an Ambassador of the University in
pushing for its advocacies and thrusts. I believe I have the competencies in
Public Speaking that makes me effective in moving audiences, journalistic and
creative writing that allows me to communicate my thoughts well, the confidence
to take a step forward and be a leader of positive change in the society, and
an outgoing personality that enjoys social engagement that are for advocacies
of greater good – that makes me capable of being an EFFECTIVE Miss UNO-R 2014 –

lives. He taught me what unconditional love is. Last but not the least, because
of him I took this opportunity to win Miss UNO-R 2014 as one of my goals in
life.
What
is your take on ALS Ice Bucket Challenge?
The
ALS Ice Bucket Challenge is a good way in helping people with Lou Gehrig’s

and taken for granted. people just keep nominating their friends just for fun
of having them get wet and not donating money for these people.

The
essence of a true-blooded UNO-Rian is that he is Christ-centered. The education

is also used to show the theme of this year’s University Week to create more
cultural awareness among the students. The most important is to show people
outside the institution what is a true UNO-Rian made of.
If
you win the crown, how will you use your title to benefit the studentry and the
University?
If
I win the crown, I can use my title to benefit the studentry and the University
by inspiring them to bring out the best in them. I will show them that being
the youngest is not a disadvantage but an opportunity to do good and work hard
so that they can achieve their goals just like what I did to win the crown.
How

ALS

ALS patients. And this activity is very effective because it really goes viral
that even celebrities and high profile personalities are joining. It also
provides a way of making people aware of what an ALS patient feels.
