TROPICAL CYCLONE WARNING: TROPICAL STORM “BASYANG” (KAJIKI)
ISSUED AT 5:00 AM, 1 FEBRUARY 2014
“BASYANG”
HAS MAINTAINED ITS STRENGTH AFTER CROSSING THE PROVINCES OF NEGROS AND GUIMARAS
AND IS NOW APPROACHING THE SOUTHERN PART OF PANAY.
Location of Eye/Center: At 4:00 AM today, the center of Tropical Storm “BASYANG” was estimated based on all available data at 20 km Southwest of Iloilo City (10.6°N, 122.4°E).
Strength: Maximum sustained winds of 65 kph near the center and gustiness of up to 80 kph.
Movement: Forecast to move West at 39 kph
Forecast Positions: Tropical Storm “BASYANG” is expected to be at 574 km Northwest of Puerto Princesa City by tomorrow morning or outside the PAR.

“Basyang”
has intensified further while moving towards southern Leyte - Surigao del Norte
area.
Location of Eye/Center: At 4:00 PM today, the center of Tropical Storm “BASYANG” was estimated based on all available data at 201 km East of Surigao City, Surigao del Norte (10.1°N, 127.3°E).
Strength: Maximum sustained winds of 85 kph near the center and gustiness of up to 100 kph.
Movement: Forecast to move West at 33 kph.
Forecast Positions: Tropical Storm “BASYANG” is expected to be at 166 km Northeast of Puerto Princesa City by tomorrow afternoon and at 529 km West Northwest of Puerto Princesa City or outside the PAR by Sunday afternoon.
