UNO-R mourns for Emmanuel Batayo

We mourn and express our deepest sympathy and condolence to the bereaved family and closest friends of EMMANUEL BATAYO (8 December 1994 - 3 August 2013) who died last August 3, 2013.

A second year student from the College of Engineering, Emmanuel was stabbed by his drinking peer along the Shell Select at Barangay Mandalagan, Bacolod City Saturday morning. The suspect is still at large as of posting.

His remains lie in state at Manapla Funeral Homes, Silay City.

May eternal rest grant unto Him O Lord, and let the perpetual light shine upon Him. May He rest in peace. AMEN.

AN ALLEGED misunderstanding could have trigged the killing of an engineering student who was stabbed by his drinking peer along the Shell Select at Barangay Mandalagan, Bacolod City Saturday morning.

The police identified the fatality as Emmanuel Batayo, 18, a sophomore at the University of Negros Occidental-Recoletos (UNO-Recoletos), and resident of Villa Hergon, Silay City.

The suspect was identified as Kevin Baranao, of Capitol Hills, Barangay Estefania, Bacolod.

Case probers said that at about 3:15 a.m., Batayo and Baranao were having a drinking spree at the back of a gasoline station when a commotion ensued that resulted in the stabbing.

Batayo was dead before he reached the Riverside Medical Center.

Baranao fled after the incident.

Police recovered from the crime scene a belt knife with blood stains used by the suspect.
